Book Bonanza 2020 Cancellation Announcement

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of Book Bonanza 2020. We have been waiting for the hotel to reopen so we could work on a plan that ensures the health and safety of our attendees, authors, vendors and volunteers. Because there are still so many unknowns with COVID-19, we can’t risk the health of our Book Bonanza community. We will have Book Bonanza 2021 on June 18-19, 2021 at the Gaylord Texan and BuildOn will be our featured charity recipient.

We hoped to have the event as planned, but once we saw the social distancing guidelines that are in effect for the foreseeable future, we could not move forward and hold the kind of event you have come to love and expect. We want our attendees to be able to interact with the authors and with each other. Rather than change Book Bonanza into something unrecognizable, we made the difficult decision to cancel.

All tickets purchased for Book Bonanza 2020 will automatically roll over to Book Bonanza 2021 tickets. As always, there are no ticket refunds because we begin paying deposits and making expenditures a year out. Tickets are transferable and you can sell your ticket on the Ticket Thread pinned in the announcements on the Book Bonanza Attendees Facebook Page. You can also post your ticket for sale on the Ticket Resale Page. We have closed ticket sales on our website in order to help those needing to resell their tickets.

In the next few days the Gaylord Texan will be canceling all hotel reservations and refunding all deposits made through them. There is no need for anyone who booked through the Book Bonanza block to take any action, including trying to cancel their reservations online or contacting the company via phone as the process will be handled automatically. The hotel will generate an email when your reservation is cancelled.  If you still want to visit the Gaylord Texan on the same dates, you will have to rebook a room directly with the hotel.

We have created a Book Bonanza 2020 Cancellation FAQ and we will be updating it as questions are asked and answered. If you have checked the FAQ and still have questions, please fill out our Help Form.

We want to recognize the help and understanding of the staff at the Gaylord Texan and Gaylord Hotels in helping us with this change. They have been so great to work with and have been true partners in this event. We are excited to announce Book Bonanza 2022 at the Gaylord Texan on July 8-9, 2022, so mark your calendars for both years!

Thank you for your patience as we worked through this difficult time together to make the right decision. We love our attendees and authors and can’t wait to safely see you in 2021. Please give us a few days to figure things out, and we will answer emails and questions as soon as we can.

Book Bonanza 2020 Updates

Book Bonanza is the creation of Author Colleen Hoover and her sisters, Lin Reynolds and Murphy Rae.  They dreamed of an event where readers could meet their favorite authors and also raise money for charity.  The first Book Bonanza was held in Denver, Colorado and raised over $50,000 for SafeHouse Denver.  Over 140 authors signed and 2,200 people converged on the Denver Marriott Tech Center for a weekend of books, unicorns, food trucks, and fun. Book Bonanza 2019 was held in Grapevine, Texas on August 9-10, 2019, and raised over $75,000 for the following nonprofits: Akola Academy, Kulture City, To Write Love on Her Arms, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Wayfarer Foundation, and Shadow Ranch.

Book Bonanza 2021 will be held June 18-19, 2021 in Grapevine, TX.  The tickets are $200 and include all events.
